A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT |
" WHY AM I A MEMBER ?" |
We all have heard it before, "Why am I a member?" or "What does CCBA do for me?" There may be much that we do that you are not aware of! Let's start with the Governmental Affairs Committee: Government Affairs lobbies state and local governments as well as many regional organizations/agencies on issues impacting the housing industry. Issues can include changes in land use, environmental regulation, and development and building fee efforts. We are the watchdog for your business. Locally you would have to put many hours in to represent your company at all levels if this committee wasn't here. Think about how much money you would have to spend to send yourself or an employee to cover all the meetings that our committee members cover for you. You have an issue, all you have to do is pick up the phone or come to our weekly meeting. Benefits: We are ever increasing the benefits for our members. Soon on our website will be a password page for our members to view the new benefits to help reduce both personal everyday expenses |
and business expenses beyond state and national benefits. If your business has discounts or free items that you would like to offer your fellow members, please contact Donna at the CCBA right away! Networking: No, customers or fellow business members are not going to fall in your lap as soon as you join, but I will keep my fingers crossed that they do for you and I both. You need to network and take advantage of all of the opportunities that we offer including coming to General Membership Meetings and participating on committees. Get involved. Just showing your face helps market your business. Maybe "Why am I not doing this?" is a better title for this message. Our Staff works to the bone for us and carries a lot of "constructive criticism" that is directed back to the appropriate committees. We would really like to see the people that have this valuable input get involved more than anyone else. While the comments are often constructive, they are also better timed earlier in the game which is why I would need those "Monday morning quarterbacks" to get in the starting lineup and get involved. You all |

have great ideas but we need to hear them at times when we can put them to good use. The only way to experience the full benefit of this association is to become involved and to fully understand how we are representing our industry and how we may already be doing what you think we're not. Finally "Parade Of Homes Now?" Yes, yes, yes. We are one of a few builder associations who are still holding the Parade of Homes as it is the single most important marketing tool builder members utilize to sell new homes. We need to keep a presence to the public that building in Citrus County and Hernando County hasn't stopped and there still is an excellent choice of new construction to choose from. Everyone enjoys a Parade. Get involved and find out why you should be an active member of the association and you'll be answering the question "Why should I be a member" instead of asking it! |
